Tua Tagovailoa Injury Update

NFL chief medical officer Dr. Allen Sills said on Tuesday that Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (head) showed zero injury behaviors and reported zero symptoms "that would have triggered the (league's concussion) protocol" during the Week 16 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. However, head coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that Tagovailoa had been put in the league's concussion protocol after reporting symptoms.

It's not uncommon for people to show symptoms on a delayed basis, though, and this is the second time that Tagovailoa has been in the concussion protocol. His multiple head injuries in 2022 call into question his availability for the rest of the season. If the 24-year-old cannot get cleared this week, backup Teddy Bridgewater would be in line to start in Week 17 against the New England Patriots.

Jalen Hurts Injury Update

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (shoulder) is considered day-to-day. Hurts wasn't expected to be on the field until the postseason to give him time to recover from a sprained SC joint. However, with Philly dropping a critical game to the Cowboys on Christmas Eve, the signal-caller will push to make it back for the Week 17 meeting with the New Orleans Saints.

That said, fantasy managers should keep Gardner Minshew on the roster, at least for now. Although Minshew threw two interceptions in the loss to Dallas, he managed to put together a 355-yard, two-touchdown effort, so he has some fantasy value if Hurts can't go on New Year's Day.

Lamar Jackson Injury Update

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (knee) has no further injury updates as of now, as head coach John Harbaugh declined to comment on his Week 17 status. That said, there's a real chance he's out another game since the Ravens have already clinched a playoff spot.

If Jackson misses, Tyler Huntley will draw his fifth straight start. Huntley is not recommended for fantasy in single-quarterback leagues, as he's scored just two total touchdowns in his four starts in 2022.

Ryan Tannehill Injury Update

Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill (ankle) will be out for at least the rest of the regular season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The veteran underwent surgery on a high-ankle sprain after getting banged up in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers. There's a chance the signal-caller could return for the postseason. However, Schefter reported that it's a "long shot," so it's reasonable to assume Tannehill won't be back until next year.

Malik Willis is expected to be under center for the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign, meaning Tannehill can be dropped from fantasy rosters. The rookie has thrown 177 yards and a pick while completing just 44.7% of his throws this season. As a result, Willis isn't recommended in any fantasy setup, despite his ability to get things done on the run.

Mike White Injury Update

New York Jets quarterback Mike White (ribs) has been cleared to play on Sunday, so he will start against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17. White's return is great news for wide receivers Garrett Wilson and Elijah Moore and arguably all of the offensive weapons as a whole.

In his first game since Week 14, White is a solid streaming option against the Seahawks, who have allowed the 12th-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Wilson is back to must-start status, but Moore is risky as Seattle has been strong against fantasy wideouts.

Colt McCoy Injury Update

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Colt McCoy (concussion) missed his team's Week 16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a concussion, leaving Trace McSorley to man the offense. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters on Monday that the hope is that McCoy can clear the league's concussion protocol this week in time to start against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 17.

A return to the lineup for McCoy would be good news for the Arizona offense, especially DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins struggled with an erratic McSorley under center in Week 16, catching just one of 10 targets for four yards. If McCoy ends up sitting out, none of the pass-catchers in Arizona would be playable in fantasy this weekend.
