Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 7:
Bucky Irving, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said on Monday that running back Bucky Irving (foot, shoulder) is not in play to return for the team's Week 7 game next Monday night against the Detroit Lions, according to Greg Auman of FOX Sports.
Irving missed a second straight game in the Week 6 win over the San Francisco 49ers due to a foot sprain and a subluxation of his shoulder, and it appears fantasy managers are going to have to wait a little longer for his return. He may be available to return for a divisional matchup in Week 8 against the New Orleans Saints.
With Irving sidelined, Rachaad White hasn't exactly been the most efficient with his increased touches out of the backfield, but he has had a nose for the end zone and has scored three times in two games.
Expect at least another game in the lead-back role for White against Detroit. Fantasy managers need to keep him in their lineups as a volume-based RB2.
Marquise Brown, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown caught all four of his targets for 45 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's Week 6 win over the Detroit Lions.
Brown has quietly emerged as a solid WR3/flex play this season, scoring at least 8.0 fantasy points (PPR) in all six of his games so far. Sunday's victory was his fifth game this season (of six total contests) in which Brown had at least four catches, as well as his fourth with at least 42 receiving yards.
It's hard to predict which Kansas City receiver will get the bulk of the volume during any given week, but Brown has certainly been a steady fantasy contributor so far. He's a mid-range WR3/flex option for Week 7 against the Raiders.
Bam Knight, RB, Arizona Cardinals
Coming off 54 total yards and a touchdown last week, Arizona Cardinals running back Bam Knight (knee) looks to be a continued part of the team's backfield in the absence of its top two running backs.
James Conner (ankle) is out for the year and Trey Benson (knee) isn't eligible to return until Week 10, giving Knight some low-end roster appeal while splitting carries with Michael Carter. Both backs drew exactly 11 carries last week against Indianapolis, a split workload that seems likely as long as Benson is unavailable.
Knight was limited in Wednesday's practice, however, which managers will want to monitor as game day gets closer.
Ricky Pearsall, WR, San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee) was not present at practice on Wednesday, according to David Lombardi of The Athletic. Pearsall has made progress in recovery from a knee sprain that he suffered in Week 4, but he's not quite ready to return to the practice field.
The 25-year-old former first-rounder is making progress, but he might be forced to miss a third straight game this weekend when the Niners take on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night. Pearsall has two more days to get back onto the practice field, but it seems like he's trending toward another absence.
The good news for the 49ers is that quarterback Brock Purdy (toe) and tight end George Kittle (hamstring) practiced on Wednesday, so they could both make their returns this weekend. Pearsall should be stashed in all fantasy leagues, but he should be left on your bench again this week.
Luther Burden III, WR, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears wide receiver Luther Burden III has shown a high ceiling in his first five games in the NFL, and it looks like he could have more work coming his way in the coming weeks. After a bye week in Week 5, he led all Bears' wide receivers with 51 receiving yards on his four catches on four targets in Monday night's win over the Commanders.
Burden had 101 yards and a touchdown in Week 3 against the Cowboys, but then had a down game in Week 4 with two catches for a total of -2 yards. Olamide Zaccheaus actually led the team with six targets, while D.J. Moore and Rome Odunze each had one more than Burden. However, with Moore's status uncertain after spending the night in the hospital, Burden could step into a more involved role in Week 7 against the Saints.
The rookie brings a high ceiling if he's on the waiver wire and is worth a speculative pickup in standard-sized leagues since the Bears are past their bye and have favorable matchups against the Saints, Ravens, Bengals, and Giants in the next four weeks.
