Fantasy Football Drop Candidates

Read about fantasy football players to consider dropping for Week 7:

RJ Harvey, RB, Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos running back RJ Harvey tied with wide receiver Troy Franklin for second most targets in London in Sunday's 13-11 win over the New York Jets. Harvey finished with four yards on two carries while catching four passes for 21 yards in Sunday's victory.

While J.K. Dobbins still led the team with 14 carries on the day, Harvey has his own role carved out in the passing game by catching four passes. This bodes well for Harvey, as it's clear he is trusted more in the passing game, averaging 3.75 targets per game over the past four weeks compared to Dobbins' 1.25 targets per game.

The rookie may still be a solid handcuff option worth stashing, depending on the league size and format. Harvey will maintain his meager role in the struggling Broncos offense for his Week 7 matchup versus the New York Giants.

Hassan Haskins, RB, Los Angeles Chargers

There was some speculation and wishful thinking in the fantasy football community that Hassan Haskins would lead the Los Angeles Chargers' backfield after Omarion Hampton was placed on IR.

That was all put to bed when second-year running back Kimani Vidal exploded for a huge day versus the Miami Dolphins in Week 6. Vidal received 22 opportunities (18 rushing attempts and 4 targets), versus the 7 total opportunities that Haskins was afforded (7 rushing attempts and 1 target).

With Vidal operating as the clear lead back in the Chargers' high-powered offense, putting up 22.7 points in PPR leagues, and significantly outscoring Haskins, who put up a paltry 3.3 points in PPR formats, it's safe to say that Haskins isn't a thing in fantasy football. Unless you're in a 14+ team league or are handcuffing Vidal in case of an injury, there is absolutely no reason to roster Hassan Haskins heading into Week 7 - he's a safe cut candidate.

Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa criticized some of his teammates and the team's leadership following a 29-27 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6. The defeat dropped Miami to 1-5 on the season.

When asked about Miami's slow start, Tagovailoa said that "it starts with the leadership" before proceeding to express his frustration that several players have been showing up late to (or completely missing) players-only meetings. Time is running out for the Dolphins to turn things around, and the quarterback's comments indicate some possible areas of focus for the team to address going forward.

All the while, speculation about head coach Mike McDaniel's job security continues to run rampant. Miami's one victory of the season came against the winless Jets in Week 4. The Dolphins will look to get right against a struggling Cleveland Browns team in Week 7.
