Montreal Canadiens winger Patrik Laine (lower body) underwent surgery to repair a core muscle and will miss 3-4 months, the team announced on Saturday. Laine has already missed four games, and it's now clear that he needs to sit out for a significant amount of time before he can return to playing. Due to his surgery, Laine might also miss the Olympics, which are scheduled to start in early February. Laine, who had his seventh 20-goal campaign last season, was struggling before he got hurt, posting only one assist in five games and failing to score with six shots. Currently, Montreal has not shown signs of missing Laine, as the team is at the top of the Atlantic Division with a 6-3-0 record.--Taavi Pailk
