When Is Agustin Ramirez Getting Called Up? Fantasy Baseball Prospect Outlook (Week 4 Update)

Fantasy Baseball Prospects, Waiver Wire Stashes, MLB Rookies Call-Ups Sleepers

When is Agustin Ramirez getting called up? Will Agustin Ramirez be called up in April of this MLB season? Read about Agustin Ramirez's debut date and fantasy baseball prospect updates for 2025.

When the Miami Marlins traded away utility specialist Jazz Chisholm Jr. to the New York Yankees at the 2024 trade deadline, the team had its eyes set on catcher/first baseman Agustin Ramirez as a return piece in the deal. The Marlins liked his upside and soon acquired him along with infielder Jared Serna and utility specialist Abrahan Ramirez.

Although Chisholm is a unique talent, acquiring a prospect like Ramirez was a huge win for the organization. The catcher first broke out back during the 2023 minor league season and continues to showcase his potential all around the diamond.

So, when is Ramirez getting called up? Is he already up with the major league roster? Should fantasy managers be adding him? Let's dive in and find out.

Agustin Ramirez Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball

It was only a matter of time until Ramirez was promoted to the major league roster this season. He was slashing .254/.313/.479 with three home runs, seven doubles, 12 RBI, seven walks, and five stolen bases across his first 19 games at Triple-A Jacksonville. As a result, it caught no one by surprise when the Marlins decided to call up their No. 4 prospect ahead of the team's series opener against the Reds.

It took Ramirez some time to show his potential after he spent the first couple of seasons at rookie ball. However, the catcher finally took off in 2023, hitting .271 with 18 home runs, 69 RBI, and 12 stolen bases across 114 games at Single-A, Double-A, and Triple-A. Those strong numbers only continued for him into the 2024 season.

He had a rare 20-20 campaign following his 25 home runs and 22 stolen bases, and totaled 93 RBI across 126 games at Double-A and Triple-A last year. It's usually hard to find a catcher with that much power and speed, but Ramirez carries both traits. Therefore, he has the makings to be a solid fantasy option for years.

Agustin Ramirez Outlook for Fantasy Baseball

When Miami first called up Ramirez on Monday, he was likely only an add in 15-plus team leagues. After two major league games, though, it's clear that the Marlins catcher needs to be rostered in every 12-plus team league. The 23-year-old is 5-for-6 at the plate with three doubles, one RBI, two walks, and one stolen base to begin his major league career.

It has been an amazing start to Ramirez's MLB career, and he has the potential to be a solid fantasy option in Year 1. While we might be overreacting to his hot start, it's hard to ignore.

Given how shallow the catcher position has become in recent years, Ramirez is certainly worth an add in most formats. He is a one-of-a-kind catcher who has the potential to hit for some power and steal upward of 15 bases in 2025.
