Travis Etienne Jr. - Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Fantasy Football Picks for Week 1 (2025)

Travis Etienne Jr. - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Travis Etienne Jr. start 'em, sit 'em fantasy football picks for Week 1 of 2025. Should you start or sit Travis Etienne Jr. for fantasy football lineups in Week 1?

BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ team leagues

POSITIONAL VALUE: Low-end RB2/FLEX

ANALYSIS: Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. entered the 2024 season as a top running back in fantasy formats. In 2023, the former first-round pick enjoyed a breakout campaign as he ran for 1,088 yards and added 476 yards through the air on 58 receptions. He found the back of the end zone 12 times.

However, in 2024, Etienne was one of the biggest busts as he ran for just 558 yards and added a mere 254 through the air. He scored just two total touchdowns and never ran for more than 100 yards in a single contest.

Despite this, Etienne could be poised for a bounce-back campaign as the Jaguars hired former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen to be their next head coach. Coen helped running back Bucky Irving enjoy a massive debut season. As a result, an improved run scheme could help Etienne return to his 2023 status.

Throughout the preseason, Etienne typically split first-team duties alongside Tank Bigsby, while rookie Bhayshul Tuten typically saw time with the backups. While Etienne has flashed much higher upside than Bigsby during his career, seeing that he is expected to split time, his fantasy ceiling will be lowered.

For the time being, fantasy managers should view Etienne as a low-end, risky RB2 option in Week 1. If he were to emerge as the team's clear RB1, he could enter high-end RB2 status. He is a solid play in all standard leagues facing the Carolina Panthers, but he is likely to have his upside capped due to Bigsby splitting opportunities.
