Top 250 Dynasty Fantasy Baseball Prospect Rankings (April 2024 Update)

Jackson Chourio - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Prospects

Steve's updated top-250 fantasy baseball prospects rankings (dynasty) as of April 2024. His MLB prospect rankings for fantasy baseball dynasty leagues.

Three, two, one, liftoff! Baseball season is here, and with the start of another season, we bring you the Top 250 Dynasty Prospect Rankings for April. While we are only about a week into the new season, we are now able to observe, study, and analyze on a nightly basis.

The early developments over spring training and the start of the regular season have already caused some interesting outcomes, some expected, others not so much.

All of this new data also influences plenty of movement among our rankings. Which prospects are on the cusp of The Show? What prospects have shown that a little more seasoning might be appropriate for at least the start of the 2024 season? What lower-level prospects are hinting at a 2024 breakout? We will discuss some stock reports and make a few predictions later.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

MLB Prospect Dynasty Rankings - April Update

As always, these rankings are fluid and will change throughout the season. This list focuses on dynasty leagues, and while performance and proximity to the big leagues matter, there is a strong focus on ceiling/upside. We plan to provide an update to this list during the first week of every month of the season and are excited to see whose star will rise and whose may dim. The recent graduations and influx of young talent in MLB ensures that this list highlights the future stars of baseball.

Who's Rising, Who's Falling?

I am trying not to overstate my excitement involving Indians outfielder Chase DeLauter. While we should temper our enthusiasm over spring training performances, you can not ignore DeLauter’s 2024 showing. He hit for power. He hit for average. He got on base. He can run. All of this was on display in Arizona. Combining DeLauter's spring with a solid showing in the minors and an excellent amateur track record suggests he is not long for Double-A. This guy looks like a star, and this ranking may still be a bit light when it is said and done.

It sounds silly to call Orioles infielder Jackson Holliday a riser, but I do feel like he was passed by Wyatt Langford in the eyes of most analysts. Count me out on that. Langford is fantastic; if he's your guy, no one will blame you. With that said, Holliday seems to have as good a hit tool as anyone in the minors, and I do not buy the predictions of a 20-home run peak. I anticipate that Holliday ultimately settles in closer to 30 homers and could potentially have eligibility at 2B and SS. He is the current prize of the prospect world and he keeps getting better.

On the other side, Cardinals starting pitcher Tink Hence was once considered a top-50 overall prospect in several rankings. As it stands now, Hence has fallen outside of my top 100 due to injury, a lack of innings, and an inflated 2023 WHIP. Hence is still just 21 years old and has plenty of time to right the ship and make an impact in St. Louis, but that is no longer, like most pitchers, a sure thing.

Another once-promising right-hander, the Rays' Shane Baz is also tumbling out of the top 100. There was a time when Baz was maybe the top pitching prospect in baseball, and his talent still suggests that ceiling. Unfortunately, injuries have derailed him, and he is likely out until June with elbow issues. Baz has pitched just 40 total innings over the last two seasons, and it appears to be an uphill battle in 2024. Baz will be 25 this season, and the loss of developmental time and injuries are starting to take their toll.
