What Has Jahan Dotson Done Lately?
The Washington Commanders selected Jahan Dotson in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Dotson made an instant impact out of the gates this season, scoring four TDs across Washington's first four games of 2022.
Unfortunately, Dotson's strong start was derailed by a hamstring injury that lingered for multiple weeks. The rookie has missed six games across his first NFL campaign. After easing back into action in Week 10, Dotson has steadily ramped his production back up.
The rookie hauled in six catches for 76 receiving yards and a TD in a tough Week 16 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. It was Dotson's third consecutive game with a TD and he's now logged 75 or more receiving yards in back-to-back outings. His seven receiving scores this year are the second-most ever by a Washington rookie.
Should I Pick Up and Start Jahan Dotson In Week 17?
Despite his strong production over the past month, Dotson remains rostered in just around 25% of fantasy leagues. If that's the case in yours, grab this talented receiver off the Week 17 wire without hesitation.
The rookie might be working with a different QB in a Week 17 matchup against the Cleveland Browns, as incumbent Washington starter Taylor Heinicke was replaced by Carson Wentz late in the squad's Week 16 loss to the Niners. Dotson opened the season by working with Wentz at the helm, so this shouldn't be a huge adjustment for him.
Picking up a player off the waiver wire and then starting him in a league championship game can be a little jarring for some fantasy GMs. However, Dotson might be worth the risk, especially for those managers that might be dealing with injuries at the WR position. The rookie has been a top-20 fantasy WR in three consecutive weeks and could be the addition that gets fantasy managers over the hump in their championship matchups.
