NFL MVP Power Rankings: Top 10 Candidates Ahead of Week 9
The NFL season is well underway, and the MVP race has begun to take shape. Which players have given themselves an early lead? Who has made a surprising push to the top 10? Drop your MVP prediction in the comments! Where did we go wrong? Let’s dive in!

No. 10: Dak Prescott, DAL
Dak Prescott is coming off his worst showing of this season, but still sits in the top-10 of the MVP power ranking. During their loss to the Broncos, Prescott tossed two interceptions and did not throw a touchdown pass.
However, over his previous six games, Prescott was dominant, posting a 17:3 TD: INT while averaging an impressive 282.2 passing yards per game. During this stretch, Prescott eclipsed the 300-yard mark twice.

No. 9: Bo Nix, DEN
After a slow start, Bo Nix appears to be rounding into form. Over his last two games, Nix has been near perfect, totaling 263.0 passing yards per game with six passing scores, two rushing scores, and only one turnover.
More importantly, the Broncos are also riding a five-game win streak. Through this stretch, Nix has only thrown two interceptions and has combined for 13 scrimmage touchdowns.

No. 8: Jared Goff, DET
Jared Goff is coming off a Week 8 bye and will look to build on this MVP resume during a critical matchup against the Vikings. In Week 7, Goff was able to get the job done against Tampa Bay but was not overly impressive, passing for 241 yards with a 1:1 TD:INT.
Since a modest showing in Week 1, Goff has posted an elite 14:2 TD:INT. However, his 234.2 passing yards per game keep him in the back half of this list.

No. 7: Jordan Love, GB
Jordan Love is coming off a dominant showing in Week 8. During their impressive road victory over the Steelers, Love led the way, tallying 360 passing yards with three passing touchdowns. This was a nice bounce-back outing for Love, as he totaled just 219 passing yards in his last two games.
Through eight weeks, Love has thrown 13 passing scores with only two interceptions. He has thrown for at least 250 passing yards in four games as well.

No. 6: Baker Mayfield, TB
Baker Mayfield had a modest showing in Week 8 as he was without two of his top wideouts and the starting running back. While rookie Emeka Egubak was back in action, he was still limited by his hamstring injury. In this game, Mayfield threw a season-low 152 passing yards with no scores.
From Weeks 1 through 7, Mayfield held a 13:2 TD:INT and averaged a solid 254.2 passing yards per game. If Mayfield can continue to produce despite missing key offensive weapons, he will climb this ranking.

No. 5: Daniel Jones, IND
Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts have continued to steamroll their opponents and sit as legit AFC contenders. In Week 8, Jones enjoyed another stellar showing, going 21-for-29 with 272 passing yards and three touchdowns. Through eight games as a Colt, Jones has only turned the ball over three times.
He has totaled 13 passing scores and punched in an additional four touchdowns with his legs.

No. 4: Drake Maye, NE
Drake Maye continued his impressive play in their Week 8 victory over the Browns. Maye has thrown at least two passing scores for the third-straight week. During this dominant run, Maye has averaged 255.0 passing yards and added 46.7 rushing yards per game.
The Patriots continue to surge in the AFC, and Maye has played a crucial role. After posting a 15:10 TD:INT as a rookie, Maye has held a 15:3 TD:INT as a sophomore and is emerging as the next outstanding QB in the league.

No. 3: Matthew Stafford, LAR
Stafford and the Rams were off in Week 8, but the veteran is coming off his best showing of the season and appears poised to continue to produce against a struggling Saints team this weekend. In Week 7, Stafford tossed five TD passes without his top wideout, Puka Nacua, on the field.
Through eight weeks, Stafford has held an impressive 17:2 TD:INT while totaling 266.6 passing yards per game.

No. 2: Josh Allen, BUF
Josh Allen and the Bills picked up a much-needed victory on Sunday over the Panthers. After a two-game losing skid, Allen bounced back, picking up three scores, one through the air and two wth his legs. More importantly, Allen did not turn the ball over, which he did three times in the previous two games.
Overall, Allen has puncned in 17 scores (15 passing) and is averaging over 250.0 total yards from scrimmage each game.

No. 1: Patrick Mahomes, KC
Without a doubt, Patrick Mahomes will still hold the top spot on the list. Mahomes and the Chiefs picked up another victory in Week 8, over the Washington Commanders on Monday night. Even though Mahomes was a bit slow in the first half, tossing two interceptions, he cruised in the second half, finishing the game with three passing scores and 299 yards.
Through eight games, he has thrown 17 passing touchdowns and rushed in four with his legs. He has averaged 262.2 passing yards with 35.0 rushing yards per game. The Chiefs enter Week 9 as the clear Super Bowl favorites.
