NFL MVP Power Rankings: Top 10 Candidates Ahead of Week 7
Even though we only have six weeks of NFL action in the books, it is never too early to start looking at the MVP race. Which players have given themselves an early lead? Who has made a surprising push to the top 10? Drop your MVP prediction in the comments! Where did we go wrong? Let’s dive in!

No. 10 - Justin Herbert, LAC
Justin Herbert and the Chargers enjoyed a much-needed bounce-back showing in their victory over the Dolphins. In this game, Herbert tossed for 264 yards and added two scores with no interceptions. After a two-game stretch in which he held a modest 2:3 TD:INT while averaging 184.5 yards per game, this was a crucial showing for Herbert’s MVP campaign.

No. 9 - Jordan Love, GB
While Jordan Love did not light up the scoreboard as he did in his previous outing, he did get the Packers back in the win column. In their victory over the Bengals, Love went 19-for-26 with 259 yards and a 1:1 TD:INT. Through five games, Love has thrown just two interceptions and added nine passing scores while averaging 251.8 passing yards per game.

No. 8 - Jared Goff, DET
While Goff did not have a poor showing in Week 6, he was unable to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs. In their loss at Arrowhead Stadium, Goff was efficient, going 23-for-29 with 203 passing yards and two scores. Since Week 2, Goff has held a near-perfect 13:1 TD:INT but holds modest passing totals, averaging just 233 passing yards per game.

No. 7 - Dak Prescott, DAL
Even without CeeDee Lamb for most of the campaign, Dak Prescott has been among the sport’s top QBs. Despite taking the loss in Week 6 to the Panthers, Prescott enjoyed another strong showing, going 25-for-24 with 261 passing yards and three touchdowns. Since Week 4, Prescott has tossed 10 passing scores with no turnovers while averaging 272.3 passing yards per game.

No. 6 - Jalen Hurts, PHI
Given the Eagles dropped their second-straight game, Jalen Hurts takes a bit of a fall in these rankings. Through six games, Hurts has not put up the best passing numbers, averaging only 195.3 passing yards per game. However, his high touchdown totals keep him in the MVP race as he has thrown eight touchdown passes and added five with his legs.

No. 5- Drake Maye, NE
Drake Maye is on the rise. Over his last three games, Maye has put himself near the top of the MVP conversation. During this stretch, he has picked up three straight wins while posting a perfect 5:0 TD:INT with an additional rushing score. Through these three games, Maye has averaged 260 total yards from scrimmage.

No. 4 - Matthew Stafford, LAR
Matthew Stafford was not asked to do much in their Week 6 victory, but he got the job done. En route to defeating the injured Baltimore Ravens, Stafford threw just 181 yards on 26 attempts. However, in his two previous games, Stafford averaged a stellar 382.0 yards per game with six total passing scores.

No. 3 - Josh Allen, BUF
Josh Allen and the Bills took their second straight loss on Monday night, which pushes him to the No. 3 spot. In this game, Allen was contained, totaling just 180 passing yards with two interceptions. During this two-game skid, Allen has thrown three interceptions with just four passing scores. However, in Weeks 1 through 4, Allen tallied 10 scores with one turnover. He will take a much-needed bye week to find his footing.

No. 2 - Patrick Mahomes, KC
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have found their stride. After a modest start to the season, Mahomes is rounding into form and quickly making a case to take the top spot on this list. In their most recent victory, the Chiefs took down the Lions. In this game, Mahomes tossed three passing scores with 257 yards. Through six games, Mahomes has found the back of the end zone 15 times and thrown only two interceptions.

No. 1 - Baker Mayfield, TB
We have a new No. 1. Despite missing several of his top wideouts, Baker Mayfield continues to get the job done for Tampa Bay. On Sunday, Mayfield went 17-for-23 with 256 passing yards and two scores during the victory over the 49ers. Through six games, Mayfield has thrown just one interception while tallying 12 passing scores and averaging 256.5 yards per game.
