Zack Britton 2020 Outlook: A Holds League Darling Despite Regression
5 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Zack Britton should be a holds league darling once again in 2020 despite some expected regression. Britton was excellent in 2019, posting 29 holds and a 1.91 ERA. A closer look shows reason to believe the lefty will take at least a slight step back this coming season, however. His 21.6 K% was nothing special, especially when looked at next to his 13.1 BB%. He pitched to a 3.59 xFIP and 3.81 SIERA, both solid numbers, but not quite elite like his ERA appeared. Still, Britton will retain plenty of value in holds leagues and may be the next guy up for saves if Aroldis Chapman were to miss time.
