Yuli Gurriel Takes Career Year Into Postseason
5 years agoHouston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel has enjoyed the best season of his career and will look to keep it going when the team begins their playoff push this Friday. Gurriel posted a career-high 73 extra-base hits and drove in 104 runs. He raised his OPS from .751 last season to .884 this season thanks to a dynamite second half. In 62 games from the All-Star break, Gurriel has slashed .326/.382/.623 with 17 home runs, 19 doubles and 54 runs batted in. The 35-year-old has gone from fringe fantasy asset to elite starter in a short span of time and now will try to keep it going throughout the postseason.
