Yoshinobu Yamamoto Signing With LA For Over $300 Million
12 months agoJapanese free-agent right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto will sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers for more than $300 million. ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that the agreement is for 12 years and $325 million. Yamamoto could be one of the most dominant pitchers to come out of Japan, which would be saying a lot. Eventually, fellow countryman and two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani will be headlining the top of LA's starting rotation alongside Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow. It's about the best landing spot for Yamamoto's 2024 fantasy value as well. He was dominant with the Orix Buffaloes of Nippon Professional Baseball in 2023 and had a 1.16 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 176 strikeouts in 171 innings. He doesn't have the prototypical size of a front-line starter in the big leagues, but he has plenty of strikeout stuff and his nasty sinker should play well at Chavez Ravine.
