Yadier Molina 2019 Outlook: If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It
6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina will go into the 2019 season hoping for more of the same. With the Cardinals trading away supposed heir apparent to Molina (Carson Kelly) in the deal for Paul Goldschmidt, Molina won't even need to look over his shoulder. He finished last season with a .261/.314/.436 line with 20 home runs and 74 RBI. He's not the kind of guy who could win your league, like J.T. Realmuto or a healthy Buster Posey, but Molina is as solid and consistent as they come. He currently has an ADP of 144 and is being taken on average as the seventh catcher off the board, both of which seems about fair. If he drops lower than that in a draft, he is certainly worth taking, as you'll then be essentially able to not have to think about your catcher spot all season long. "Yadi" will turn 37 next season, and his days of hitting .300 are most likely over, but he's still an excellent catcher both on the field and in your fantasy lineup.
