White Sox Confident Yasmani Grandal Can Return This Year
3 years agoThe Chicago White Sox remain confident that catcher Yasmani Grandal (knee) can return this year after having surgery on Wednesday to fix a torn left knee tendon. Grandal is expected to be out for four to six weeks. The 32-year-old switch-hitter has been good for power (14 home runs) and on-base percentage (.388), but there remains a lot of swing-and-miss to his game, as evidenced by his .188 average in 246 plate appearances. With catcher being such a shallow position, Grandal is worth hanging onto if you have the room in mixed leagues. Zack Collins should see the majority of playing time behind the plate in Chicago with Grandal sidelined. He went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in the win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night and could become relevant in two-catcher formats with the increased playing time.
