Carolina Hurricanes center Victor Rask (upper body) remains out at the start of the new NHL season. The 25-year-old Swede underwent surgery on his right hand on Sept. 13 following an unfortunate kitchen incident. With this being an unorthodox injury, it's unknown when Rask will be available to play. According to most reports, he's set to miss months rather than weeks. Youngsters Martin Necas and Lucas Wallmark will be picking up extra minutes at center until Rask's return. Necas had nine goals and 17 points in 24 games in the Czech league last season and impressed at the World Championships with five points in seven games. Wallmark had an outstanding year in the AHL last season, picking up 55 points in 45 games.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
