Tyler Higbee 2023 Outlook: Do Not Bank On Him Reclaiming 2019 Magic
2 years agoLos Angeles Rams starting tight end Tyler Higbee had the second-best season of his seven-year career in 2022, buoyed by a career-high 108 targets. Yet he only turned three of those targets into touchdowns and had a paltry 8.6 yards per catch, playing the role of dependable safety valve. Fantasy footballers remember when Higbee had an ungodly five-game stretch back in 2019 where he racked up 521 receiving yards and looked like he was on the verge of becoming a breakout star. He has been a mediocre fantasy performer ever since, however. Higbee has two things going for him entering the 2023 campaign. One is that he is the Rams top tight end and does not have to worry about splitting time and targets with another solid TE teammate like he did during the days when Gerald Everett was on the squad. Two is the Rams receiving corps is limited except for dynamic Pro Bowl pass catcher Cooper Kupp, so a healthy Matthew Stafford should aim at Higbee 100 times again. Higbee is a TE2 who is a top-15 fantasy tight end that could finish in the top 10 at the position by season's end if he can find a way to deliver 700 yards and six touchdowns.
