Seattle Mariners right-handed reliever Troy Taylor (lat) suffered a right-lat strain last week, so the Mariners will take it slow with him early in spring training in February. Although it's never good for anyone to start off spring training on the shelf, the good news is that the 23-year-old should have plenty of time to get built up as a reliever before Opening Day, barring any setbacks. He made his major-league debut for Seattle in 2024 and had 3.72 ERA (4.36 FIP), a 1.14 WHIP, one save, 25 strikeouts and seven walks in 19 1/3 relief innings. The former 12th-round pick by the Mariners in 2022 out of the University of California -- Irvine, was even better in 40 relief outings at High-A Everett and Double-A Arkansas with a 1.27 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, 21 saves and a 45:14 K:BB in 42 2/3 innings. Taylor should factor into Seattle's bullpen again in 2025 but is off the fantasy radar.--Keith Hernandez
