Triston Casas 2022 Player Outlook: Well-Rounded Prospect Should Get A Look In Fenway
3 years agoBoston Red Sox first base prospect Triston Casas was invited to Spring Training and is knocking on the door of the Big Leagues, according to the New England Sports Network. Casas slashed an impressive .279/.394/.484 last season between Double-A (77 games) and Triple-A (nine games) while chipping in 14 homers, 59 RBI, and seven stolen bases. The 22-year-old boasted elite plate discipline last season with a 14 percent walk rate against a 19.1 percent strikeout rate while flashing power to all fields. Casas will likely require more seasoning at Triple-A Worcester, but he should graduate to the Big-League level at some point in 2022 and could be a five-category contributor in fantasy once he gets his shot in the Majors. The biggest hurdle facing Casas is being behind Bobby Dalbec on the depth chart. With both Casas and Dalbec being first basemen, it would likely take an injury to Dalbec for Casas to be a fantasy asset in redraft leagues this season. However, Casas remains a must-roster player in dynasty leagues and offers strong upside in fantasy if he gets everyday at-bats.
