Tommy Edman 2025 Player Outlook: Base-Stealer With Run-Scoring Upside, Positional Versatility Available Late
2 weeks agoLos Angeles Dodgers centerfielder/utilityman Tommy Edman's 2024 numbers don't jump off the page, producing a .237-6-20-20-6 line, but numbers can be easily misinterpreted in a small sample size (37 games, 153 PA). After missing the first several months of the season due to a wrist injury, the 29-year-old debuted in August, slashing .284/.319/.505 with all six of his homers coming in the first 28 games he played, but finished the regular season in a 2-for-30 (.067) slump over his final nine games. However, Edman would get hot again in the playoffs, leading to his eventual NLCS MVP honors. The switch-hitter will look to ride that momentum and a healthy offseason into 2025. With a career K% of 16.6% and Contact% of 83.5%, he's adept at putting the bat on the ball. He also averaged 30 stolen bases in the three full seasons before 2024. The former sixth-round draft pick offers multi-positional eligibility on Yahoo (SS, OF), adding to his fantasy appeal, and should be a big-time run scorer with a full season of at-bats in a loaded L.A. lineup. With an NFBC ADP of 190, RotoBaller is more bullish on Edman, ranking him at 176 overall.
