Tigers Let Austin Meadows Go
1 year agoThe Detroit Tigers non-tendered outfielder Austin Meadows and right-handers Brenan Hanifee, Garrett Hill, Freddy Pacheco and Spencer Turnbull on Friday, making them all free agents. 2023 was a lost season for Meadows, as he battled anxiety issues and managed to play in only six games at the major-league level. Meadows made the All-Star team in 2019 with the Tampa Bay Rays, but he started a steep decline shortly after that and has hit a combined .232/.315/.418 with 31 home runs, 132 RBI and six stolen bases in 220 games in four seasons since then. Hopefully, the 28-year-old can get his anxiety issues under control and continue his career with another organization in 2024.
