Texans Re-Sign Dontrell Hilliard
4 years agoThe Houston Texans are re-signing running back/kick returner Dontrell Hilliard to a one-year deal worth $1.25 million on Monday, according to a source. Hilliard, who was set to become a restricted free agent, will receive $200,000 guaranteed. The soon-to-be 26-year-old played in seven games with the Cleveland Browns and Texans in 2020, but he was mostly a special teams player, as he carried the ball only nine times (all with Cleveland) for 48 yards. Hilliard didn't see a carry or a pass thrown his way in just two games played for the Texans last season. In four seasons in the NFL, he has 22 carries for 97 yards (4.4 yards per attempt) and two rushing touchdowns while catching 22 passes for 199 yards. Hilliard will provide depth behind David Johnson, Duke Johnson and Buddy Howell.
