Tee Higgins 2022 NFL Player Outlook - Approaching WR1 Status
3 years agoThe addition of Ja'Marr Chase infused an exceptional talent into Cincinnati's receiving arsenal during 2021 but Chase's arrival did not prevent Tee Higgins from ascending to WR13 in point per game scoring. Higgins also led the Bengals in target share (23.9%), while eclipsing 100 targets (110), and averaging 7.9 per game. His expanded usage propelled him to career highs in multiple categories, even though he was sidelined during three matchups. Higgins also vaulted to 15th in receiving yardage (1,091/(77.9 per game), was eighth in yards before catch (801), and finished among the top 20 in air yards (1,327), and air yards share (35.0%). His numbers were fueled by a statistical surge from Weeks 13-16, when he soared to WR2, and finished second in receiving yards (469/117.3 per game), air yards (460), and yards per route run (3.11). He is recovering from shoulder surgery but will recapture his integral role in a high-octane Bengal offense that should benefit from significant upgrades to their offensive line during the offseason. Chase will remain an elite point producer during his second season. However, Higgins' should sustain the late-season momentum that he attained in 2021 and can deliver numbers that place him on the periphery of WR1 status. That should incentivize fantasy managers to select him at his current ADPs in dynasty startup drafts (31/WR12), and best-ball leagues (31/WR11).
