Taylor Gabriel Could Struggle To Replicate Last Season
5 years agoChicago Bears wide receiver Taylor Gabriel will begin training camp as a starter on offense after a solid 2018 season. Gabriel led the Bears in receptions with 67 while compiling 688 yards and two touchdowns. The veteran was integral to the Bears getting off to a strong start last season but his production tapered off significantly by season's end. Gabriel has plenty of speed but lacks the size to win on 50/50 balls down the field and struggles as a possession receiver. The Bears took plenty of deep shots last season with Gabriel but the success rate was lower than what the coaching staff hoped for. Now Gabriel will fight for snaps with a healthier Allen Robinson, a maturing Anthony Miller and draft pick Riley Ridley. Gabriel should still enjoy an active season but he will be hard-pressed to replicate his numbers from 2018. The 28-year-old will not be fantasy viable except in deeper leagues but could rise to spot-start status at some point this season.
