Tanner Houck to Throw a Bullpen at the End of the Week
Tanner Houck (elbow) will throw an up-and-down bullpen session at the end of this week. It will be Houck's second bullpen session after he threw one last Saturday. The 28-year-old is making progress, although it's unclear when exactly he might be able to return to Boston's starting rotation after a right flexor-pronator strain sent him to the 15-day injured list. The former 24th overall pick in 2017 out of Missouri was having a nightmarish season through nine starts before his injury, going 0-3 with an 8.04 ERA (6.10 FIP) and 1.69 WHIP with 32 strikeouts and 17 walks in 43 2/3 innings pitched. It was a sharp contract from when he had a 2.54 ERA in the first half last year to earn his first trip to the All-Star game. Houck is a ground-ball artist who could bounce back with better health for fantasy managers in the second half.
