Sonny Gray Placed On 10-Day Injured List With Groin Strain
4 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Sonny Gray (groin) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday. Gray left his Tuesday start early, throwing just three innings and 50 pitches in a 5-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. The team announced that he was dealing with groin tightness after the game. Cincinnati called up right-hander Art Warren from Triple-A to take Gray's spot on the big league roster. Manager David Bell told reporters that he expects Gray to miss at least two starts but the hurler remains without a definite timetable. Bell was also unsure when asked about who would start in Gray's spot in the rotation, a spot that next comes up on Sunday. Gray will be missed in the Reds' rotation as he has a 1-4 record, 3.42 ERA, and 65 strikeouts over 50 innings of work in 2021.
