Sean Murphy Getting A Day Off Friday
1 year agoAtlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy is getting a day of rest on Friday as the team takes on the visiting Colorado Rockies. Murphy had a three-hit night for the second time this month on Thursday, but he'll take the day off on Friday. In the month of June, the 28-year-old backstop has gone 11-for-39 (.282) with four doubles, a home run, four RBI and four runs scored in 10 games. In his first year in Atlanta, Murphy has been as advertised, batting a strong .285/.384/.535 with a .919 OPS, 14 doubles, 12 home runs and 42 RBI in 232 trips to the plate over 56 games. He's one of the best young hitting catchers in the game and is only six homers shy of tying his career-high set last year in 148 games. Travis d'Arnaud is doing the catching on Friday and is hitting cleanup against Rockies right-hander Dinelson Lamet.
