Sean Manaea to Start Rehab Assignment on Friday
Sean Manaea (oblique) will start a minor-league rehab assignment on Friday at High-A Brooklyn, marking his first game action since last year's postseason due to a right-oblique strain, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. Manaea is scheduled to throw around 35 pitches in Friday's start. He will then spend several weeks building up his pitch count for a full starter's workload, and barring a setback, he remains on track to make his 2025 debut for the Mets in late June or early July. The 33-year-old veteran southpaw was the team's ace in 2024 and went 12-6 with a 3.47 ERA over 32 starts, but he was better in his final 12 outings after dropping his arm angle in July to mimic Chris Sale. Fantasy managers that have been stashing Manaea will be hoping he can recapture last year's magic despite missing extended time with his oblique injury.
