3 months agoRory McIlroy entered the Open Championship last week with visions of glory in his native country of Ireland but was forced to settle for heartache after missing the cut. The Irishman opened Thursday with an eight-over 79 but was able to make an epic rally on Friday, shooting a six-under 65. Unfortunately, despite his heroic efforts, the 30-year-old just missed out on the weekend. This week, McIlroy will be quickly back in action at the WGC - St. Jude Invitational but admitted on Wednesday that he hadn't touched a club since Friday afternoon. While not practicing leading into the event makes us apprehensive, the small break might have been what the third-ranked player in the world needed to get his head back on straight.--Spencer Aguiar - RotoBaller
