Robbie Ray 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Veteran Innings Eater's Upside Lies In Volume, But Puts Ratios At Risk
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Robbie Ray finished 2025 with an 11-8 record, 186 strikeouts, a 3.65 ERA, and a 1.21 WHIP over 182.1 innings pitched in 32 starts. Contrary to what his WHIP might suggest, the southpaw was one of the best at limiting contact in 2025, finishing with the 14th-lowest batting average against (.218) among qualified starters. His walk rate, on the other hand, was the league's fourth-highest (9.7%). In a sense, Ray was lucky not to have had a worse season, as when he was hit, he was hit hard. Ray's average exit velocity allowed was 91.0 MPH, which put him in the bottom 7% of MLB, and overcame a 9.6% barrel rate and 44.7% hard-hit rate to finish with the lowest home run-to-fly ball ratio of his career. If a similar performance in 2026 is not met with the same luck, then Ray's ratios will suffer. Ray will chew innings for the Giants, though, which gives him the potential to contribute in wins and strikeouts. Ray is 148 overall in RotoBaller's current rankings, just ahead of his NFBC ADP of 151.
