Robbie Gould 2019 Player Outlook: No Problems Now That Contract is Resolved
6 years agoGould was gold for fantasy owners in 2017 and 2018, connecting on 72 of 75 field goal attempts and successfully converting 55 of his 59 extra point tries. Yes, he was actually more accurate on his FG attempts than his chip-shot XP chances! He was especially impressive from long range last season (11-for-12 on 40-plus-yard FGs). The 271 points Gould racked up during this two-year span helped fantasy owners as much as he helped his San Francisco 49ers. Gould was tagged this offseason as a franchise player and finally signed a two-year, $10.5 million deal with the 49ers after it looked like he might force his way out. San Francisco has been the perfect team for Gould to kick for since the offense sets him up with plenty of scoring opportunities, and that should hold true in 2019 if quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo returns successfully from the torn ACL he suffered last season. Gould should remain one of the top five kickers in fantasy football now that his contract soap opera is finally over and he can fully focus on having a productive season with a team that has proven in the past that it can set him up with an ample amount of field goal attempts.
