Ricky Tiedemann 2024 Player Outlook: Lefty Knocking On The Door To Bigs
10 months agoToronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Ricky Tiedemann will probably have to wait a few months to get his call to the majors. Toronto's starting rotation is equipped with four good pieces and Alek Manoah will look to grab hold of the fifth spot this spring. It's a good place for Tiedemann, however, as he started 15 games in the minors last season. His starting in Triple-A will let the organization control his innings so he can get into MLB action when his time comes. ATC projects 48 innings pitched for the 6'4" lefty, with 55 strikeouts. He's one of the top pitching prospects in baseball, so he should be pounced on when word comes of his arrival in Toronto. If your league has deeper bench slots, and you can stash someone, Tiedemann could be a prime candidate for that. He offers three plus pitches that led to a 44.1 percent strikeout rate in 2023. That kind of stuff will help keep his ERA down even if his WHIP suffers a bit due to some control issues.
