5 years agoDespite being caught in a committee situation last year, Raheem Mostert finished as a Top 25 fantasy running back and scored 10 times. He demonstrated a lot of versatility and upside, and was clearly the most explosive RB on the San Francisco roster. Mostert averaged 4.9 yards per carry during the regular season, then delivered a major breakout performance in the NFC Championship Game, when he rushed for 220 yards and four TDs against Green Bay. Mostert is capable of scoring from anywhere on the field. He first flashed his significant potential in Week 2, as he totaled 151 yards from scrimmage. Mostert was a very useful fantasy piece down the stretch, as he delivered double figure PPR performances from Weeks 12 through 17. The Niners may still exhibit a committee approach this season. San Francisco is hopeful Jerick McKinnon can be available for usage this season and Jeff Wilson Jr. is always capable of finding his way into the mix as well. The 49ers had the highest run/pass ratio in the NFC and should continue to focus heavily on the ground game. That makes Mostert capable of contributing significant fantasy totals in any given week. But you never know who may lead the backfield in production at any time. Mostert’s ADP is 55 and he is ranked 29th at RB by the RotoBaller staff. For Mostert, 1,200-plus yards from scrimmage and eight or more total TDs are realistic expectations. But the week to week consistency is still in question, and makes him more of a boom or bust flex option. He is an even better pick as a RB2 type in Best Ball formats.--Scott Engel - RotoBaller
