Paul Goldschmidt Is A Top-Five Player
7 years agoPaul Goldschmidt continues to prove he is the complete package. While he finished third in the 2017 National League MVP voting, Goldschmidt earned a few other accolades. He was selected as an All-Star for the fifth time. Goldschmidt also earned his third awards for both Silver Slugger and Gold Glove. After a 2016 season some considered subpar or declining, Goldschmidt again demonstrated why he is deserving of a selection at the top of the first round. Goldschmidt’s 2017 performance included fourth overall finishes in runs (117) and RBI (120) to go with 36 home runs and 18 stolen bases. His 44.3% hard hit ranked third among all players with 500 plate appearances. Even at 30 years old, Goldschmidt should be viewed as nothing but elite. Even with a humidor installed at Chase Field, Goldschmidt's power will only be reduced by few. His combination of power and speed at 1B will keep Goldschmidt as a top-10 selection. In dynasty and keeper leagues, feel assured that he will continue to give you first round production for the next three to five years, with the expectation of stolen bases declining gradually.
