Parris Campbell 2022 NFL Player Outlook: Potential Check-Down Favorite For Matt Ryan
2 years agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Parris Campbell has played in only 15 games over the past three seasons. He was limited to six games and was placed on the injured reserve in Week 6 after undergoing foot surgery. Injuries have plagued the former second-round pick since entering the league, but he's received a fair bit of praise this offseason. Running exclusively with the first team offense during minicamp, Campbell was named one of the "offseason standouts" by ESPN's Mike Wells. These reports are nothing new for the former Ohio State Buckeye, but injury has constantly derailed him. However, the slot role is vacant due to the departure of Zach Pascal, with Campbell the clear frontrunner to replace him. Campbell has the speed and ball skills to excel in the slot. He ran a 4.31 40-time at the combine and recorded one drop over his three seasons in the league. With former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan replacing Carson Wentz, Campbell could succeed as the check-down target for the 37-year-old quarterback. No real competition is standing in his way, and he was drafted in the second round for a reason. Campbell has one final chance to succeed and is currently going undrafted in most leagues. He is a name to watch for on waivers, even if the Colts project to pass at a low rate.
