49ers Have New Kicker, Select Jake Moody At No. 99
4 weeks agoThe San Francisco 49ers selected Michigan kicker Jake Moody with the No. 99 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Moody will replace veteran Robbie Gould as the team's primary kicker, who parted ways with the team this offseason. The 23-year-old was terrific in 2022, converting 87 percent of his field-goal attempts. Moody made 29 field goals (a single-season record), including 10 from 40-plus yards, and was a perfect 60-of-60 in extra-point tries. The Michigan product was named the team's Specialist of the Year. Moody will compete with Zane Gonzalez to be San Francisco's primary kicker. The 49ers will be a high-octane offense again in 2023; Moody would be a reliable fantasy option if he can secure the starting gig.Source: NFL
49ers Get Cameron Latu At No. 101
4 weeks agoThe San Francisco 49ers picked Alabama tight end Cameron Latu with the 101st overall pick in the NFL Draft. San Francisco gets some insurance in case star tight end George Kittle goes down with an injury. In 2021, Latu set the Alabama record for receiving touchdowns by a tight end with eight of them that year. The 23-year-old had a visit with the 49ers a few weeks ago, and apparently they liked what they saw even though he previously missed the combine. He doesn't shape up as much of a difference-making presence and should function as a blocker for the team more often than not. Perhaps he would find himself on the TE1 streaming map, though, as part of San Francisco's talented offense if Kittle ever misses time.Source: ESPN
Raiders Pick Tre Tucker At No. 100
4 weeks agoThe Las Vegas Raiders selected Cincinnati wide receiver Tre Tucker with the 100th overall pick in the NFL Draft. The Raiders implement some speed into their offense with the choice. Even so, Tucker only had 52 catches for 672 yards in his final season at Cincinnati. The 22-year-old probably signifies more of a special teamer entering the league in his rookie season. Tucker will certainly provide a boost as a kick returner, but he is likely to remain far from fantasy relevance in 2023 playing behind Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, and Hunter Renfrow.Source: ESPN
Cardinals Choose Michael Wilson At No. 94
4 weeks agoThe Arizona Cardinals selected Stanford wide receiver Michael Wilson with the 94th overall pick in the NFL Draft. As rumors swirl surrounding DeAndre Hopkins' status with the team, Arizona adds a vertical threat to the mix alongside Marquise Brown. Wilson didn't demonstrate it at the combine, but he portrays very good speed. The 23-year-old had an injury-riddled college career at Stanford, limiting his potential output over his four seasons there. He managed to lead the team in receiving during 2019. Wilson makes for a plausible dynasty prospect, depending on the status of Hopkins with the Cardinals in 2023, but doesn't have much of case in redraft leagues.Source: ESPN
Steelers Select Darnell Washington At No. 93
4 weeks agoThe Pittsburgh Steelers picked Georgia tight end Darnell Washington (knee) with the 93rd overall pick in the NFL draft. Washington fell down teams' draft boards due to a knee issue. Pittsburgh gives young quarterback Kenny Pickett another big red-zone threat alongside tight end Pat Freiermuth. Washington notably brought in 28 catches for 454 yards and two touchdowns most recently in 2022. At 6-foot-7 and 264 pounds, he possesses the frame to make contested catches look somewhat routine. The 21-year-old also sports the strength to break free from tackles and the speed to leave defenders in the dust. Sharing snaps with another young tight end in the Pittsburgh offense, Washington might have a difficult time seeing much fantasy value in his rookie year.Source: ESPN
Jaguars Add To Backfield With Tank Bigsby At No. 88
4 weeks agoThe Jacksonville Jaguars chose Auburn running back Tank Bigsby with the 88th overall pick in the NFL Draft. The Jaguars continue to bolster their rising offense with another weapon. Bigsby was the SEC Freshman of the Year during his dynamic 2020 season, scampering for 6.0 yards per carry over 138 attempts. He exceeded 1000 yards in his sophomore year and his receiving usage also expanded a bit. The 21-year-old managed 1150 scrimmage yards even amidst a rough 2022 for the Tigers. His lack of pass protection skills could lose him snaps at the professional level, but Bigsby represents a potential late-round fantasy flier in redraft leagues as a handcuff to Travis Etienne. He could also carve out a strong enough role for some standalone value in his rookie season.Source: ESPN
Dolphins Pick Devon Achane With No. 84 Pick
4 weeks agoThe Miami Dolphins selected Texas A&M running back Devon Achane with the 84th overall pick in the NFL Draft. The Dolphins add more speed to their already explosive offense. Achane finished his first year in college as the Orange Bowl MVP with a 140-yard, two-touchdown performance in 2020. In his most recent season, 2022, he ran for 1102 yards and also hauled in 36 catches. The 21-year-old had the third-quickest 40-yard dash time of all players at 4.32 seconds at the combine. He profiles as a pass-catching back with top-notch quickness. Achane is an intriguing dynasty pick with a few older running backs in front of him on the Miami depth chart. He may have a hard time finding fantasy value in his rookie season, though, playing behind Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr.Source: ESPN
Titans Select Heir To Derrick Henry With Running Back Tyjae Spears
4 weeks agoThe Tennessee Titans selected running back Tyjae Spears out of Tulane with the No. 81 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft on Friday night. There were rumors the team might trade away Derrick Henry, which have proven false thus far. However, with only Hassan Haskins behind him, they now possess more depth should they decide to make a move. It could also prepare them for life without Henry, who is 29 years old and has logged a lot of carries in his career. In the meantime, Spears will look to carve out a role as a receiver and should become the primary backup.Source: NFL.com
Colts Add Depth At Receiver With Josh Downs
4 weeks agoThe Indianapolis Colts moved up to select wide receiver Josh Downs out of North Carolina with the No. 79 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft on Friday night. After surprising some at No. 4 overall by drafting Anthony Richardson, the team decided to add a new weapon for their future signal-caller. They already boast a strong duo in Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce but lack depth beyond those two, creating an opportunity for Downs. He's a different style pass-catcher than Pittman and Pierce at five-foot-nine, 171 pounds, offering them more versatility and speed.Source: NFL.com
Browns Add Another Weapon For Deshaun Watson, Select Cedric Tillman
4 weeks agoThe Cleveland Browns selected Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Cedric Tillman with the No.74 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He is considered one of the best pass-catching prospects in the draft and can be physical, thriving in contested-catch situations. Tillman gives quarterback Deshaun Watson another weapon and will compete for targets in Cleveland's passing game with Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore. Tillman has his best season in college in 2021, hauling in 64 receptions for 1,081 yards and 12 touchdowns. Despite competing for targets with Cooper and Moore, Tillman is a solid stash in dynasty leagues in 2023.Source: NFL
Packers Double Up On Tight Ends With Tucker Kraft
4 weeks agoThe Green Bay Packers selected tight end Tucker Kraft out of South Dakota State with the No. 78 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft on Friday night. He's the second tight end selected by the Packers, joining Luke Musgrave, who they grabbed in the second round. It likely makes him more impactful for Jordan Love and Green Bay as an NFL asset than it will for fantasy football. He's a long shot to emerge in Year 1, making him a riskier stash, even in a dynasty format.Source: NFL.com
Giants Continue To Stockpile Receivers With Jalin Hyatt
4 weeks agoThe New York Giants selected wide receiver Jalin Hyatt out of Tennessee with the No. 73 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft on Friday night. As a potential round-one selection, it's an excellent bargain for the G-Men, who continue to add depth to their receiving corps. Like many of the other pass-catchers in this draft class, Hyatt is smaller than the prototypical wideouts but finished with over 1,200 yards and 15 touchdowns in his final year. It's a crowded depth chart, but nothing is stopping him from establishing a meaningful role early in his career.Source: NFL.com
Saints Add Kendre Miller To Backfield
4 weeks agoThe New Orleans Saints selected running back Kendre Miller out of TCU with the No. 71 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft on Friday night. With Alvin Kamara facing a possible suspension, it makes sense for the team to add depth, even after signing Jamaal Williams in free agency. Miller will have a shot to compete as the backup, and could take over pass-catching duties while Kamara is out, making him an interesting player to stash.Source: NFL.com
Texans Add Wide Receiver Nathaniel Dell
4 weeks agoThe Houston Texans selected wide receiver Nathaniel Dell out of Houston with the No. 69 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft on Friday night. The Texans already added their future quarterback, C.J. Stroud, in the first round, and they now add a weapon for the rookie signal-caller. At five-foot-eight, 165 pounds, he's a small, speedy pass-catcher that will compete with Nico Collins and John Metchie for targets. The Texans don't project to be a high-scoring offense, but given the minimal competition, Dell could be worth a flier in drafts, particularly in dynasty formats.Source: NFL.com
Lions Stop The Slide For Quarterback Hendon Hooker
4 weeks agoThe Detroit Lions selected quarterback Hendon Hooker (knee) out of Tennessee with the No. 68 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft on Friday night. The Lions traded up to No. 68 to select Hooker, who is expected to back up Jard Goff. After tearing his ACL in his final season, there is a lot of curiosity about when he'll be ready to suit up and make his debut. However, with Goff entrenched as the team's starter, they'll have the luxury of allowing him to sit behind the veteran for the entirety of the 2022 season if they so desire. Hooker was a highly touted prospect before the injury; he has the tools to be a competent starter in the NFL, especially given the supporting cast the Lions possess, making him an intriguing dynasty asset.Source: NFL.com
