2 months agoThe Sacramento Kings have finalized the signing of reigning EuroLeague MVP Sasha Vezenkov. The 27-year-old officially joins the Kings on a three-year, $20 million contract. Vezenkov figures to supply wing depth for Sacramento's second unit. The 2017 second-round pick recorded 17.6 points on 65.5% field-goal shooting, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.9 threes in 29.1 minutes per game over 40 contests for Olympiacos last year. Despite the success overseas, Vezenkov should not enter the 2023-2024 NBA season on many fantasy radars.--Joseph Barbati - RotoBallerSource: Jason Anderson - Sacramento Bee
2 months agoThe Toronto Raptors are reportedly not considering trade offers involving guard/forward OG Anunoby at this time. Eric Koreen of The Athletic reports that "the Raptors are not seriously listening to offers for OG Anunoby right now". With franchise cornerstone Pascal Siakam's Toronto future uncertain and Fred VanVleet departing this offseason, Anunoby's standing with the team still seems fairly secure currently. The 26-year-old represents one of the NBA's best "3-and-D" swingmen, notching 16.8 points on 47.6% field-goal shooting, 5.0 rebounds, 2.1 threes, and a league-leading 1.9 steals in 35.6 minutes per game over 67 contests last season.--Joseph Barbati - RotoBallerSource: Eric Koreen - The Athletic
2 months agoThe Los Angeles Clippers and forward Kawhi Leonard (knee) are reportedly in talks regarding a potential contract extension. Law Murray of The Athletic reports that "the dialogue is healthy, as Leonard is extension eligible now". Murray does allude to the slowness of the current trade market and considers these discussions to also be "relatively slow". The 31-year-old owns two years remaining on his current deal with a 2024-2025 player option. Leonard, while highly injury-prone, remains one of the league's best two-way superstars any time he takes the court. The five-time All-Star amassed 23.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.0 threes, and 1.4 steals on 51.2% field-goal shooting in 33.6 minutes per game across 52 contests last season.--Joseph Barbati - RotoBallerSource: Law Murray - The Athletic
2 months agoThe Los Angeles Lakers and center Anthony Davis are reportedly expected to come to terms on a contract extension prior to training camp. ESPN's Dave McMenamin "expects some sort of an agreement to be reached" and he is "fairly confident that Anthony Davis will come into training camp with an extended deal". Camps won't open league-wide until October 3, so there's still ample time for the two sides to hash out a possible deal before then. The 30-year-old holds two years left on his current contract with an early termination option for the 2024-2025 season. Davis had arguably his best campaign with LA yet in 2022-2023. The eight-time All-Star accrued first-round fantasy value, boasting 25.9 points, 12.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.0. blocks, and 1.1 steals with a career-high 56.3% field-goal shooting in 34.0 minutes per game over 56 contests.--Joseph Barbati - RotoBallerSource: ESPN - “The Lowe Post”
2 months agoAs reported by Mike Singer of the Denver Post, the Denver Nuggets are signing guards Andrew Funk and Armaan Franklin to exhibit-10 contracts on Tuesday. This will give both of them the opportunity to play for a roster spot when training camp rolls around. Funk played limited minutes during the summer league, but during his graduate year at Penn State, he averaged 12.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. Franklin last played at Virginia and posted averages of 12.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.--Alex Fischbein - RotoBallerSource: Mike Singer
2 months agoThe Brooklyn Nets and guard Armoni Brooks have agreed to a two-way contract for the upcoming season, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. The 25-year-old shooting guard played for both the Rockets and Raptors but did not appear in a game last year, as he played for the Hawks' G-League affiliate. Over the course of 28 games in the G League, Brooks averaged 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 44.45% from the floor and 38.4% from beyond the arc.--Alex Fischbein - RotoBallerSource: Michael Scotto
2 months agoAs reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Sacramento Kings are signing free-agent center Nerlens Noel to a one-year deal. The contract is worth $3.1 million and he'll most likely slot into the backup center role that Richaun Holmes vacated. The problem is that slot was very deep into the bench. Alex Len and Trey Lyles have spent time at center behind Domantas Sabonis. So, fantasy managers might want to wait and see if Noel will be getting more minutes before using any draft capital on him this season.--Alex Fischbein - RotoBallerSource: Adrian Wojnarowski
2 months agoThe Philadelphia 76ers have signed Filip Petrusev to a two-year deal after being drafted by the team back in the 2021 NBA Draft. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the deal is partially guaranteed for the 2023-24 season and not guaranteed for the season after that. The Serbia native played in 72 games overseas last year and averaged 11.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest. He made some solid contributions to their summer league team as well with averages of 12.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. This roster is now loaded with big men, so Petrusev's road to minutes is a very long one.--Alex Fischbein - RotoBallerSource: Michael Scotto
2 months agoThe Toronto Raptors are waiving 23-year-old Joe Wieskamp on Tuesday, according to Blake Murphy of Sporstnet. His contract was going to be guaranteed if he was on the roster by Wednesday, so the team will open up $3.96 million under the salary cap. The Iowa product was drafted with the 41st pick of the 2021 draft by the Spurs but never turned into the shooter that was needed. Wieskamp has appeared in a total of 39 games over the past two seasons and will look for another rebuilding squad to land on a training-camp roster.--Alex Fischbein - RotoBallerSource: Blake Murphy
2 months agoThe Milwaukee Bucks have signed Jazian Gortman to a training-camp deal, according to Keith Smith of Spotrac. The 20-year-old played in Overtime Elite last year and went undrafted in June. He averaged 13.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.5 steals per game for the YNG Dreamerz. During the Las Vegas summer league, Gortman didn't see much playing time, as he only averaged a little more than four minutes per contest, so the Bucks are going to use training camp to get a better look at his game and potential.--Alex Fischbein - RotoBallerSource: Keith Smith
2 months agoPhiladelphia 76ers guard James Harden has been requesting a trade from the organization for weeks. The 33-year-old is extremely upset with how the organization has handled his trade request. The plan was for Harden to opt-in to his player option and he'd work alongside the ownership to find a trade partner. The All-Star guard has said he wants to join the Los Angeles Clippers, but the two sides don't appear to be close on a deal. At this point, Harden has said the relationship between him andthe Sixers ownership is fractured. It remains to be seen how Harden is going to handle training camp, assuming he's still with the Sixers. It's hard to imagine Harden suiting up for the 76ers again.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Shams Charania
2 months agoPhiladelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid was recently asked about his future aspirations in the league. The superstar center said that he's ready to do whatever it takes to win a championship. He continued by saying whether it's in Philly or elsewhere that he wants to have a chance to win. That being said, the pressure is on the Sixers to compete for a championship right now or Embiid might be ready to walk away. The Sixers have a roster ready to compete for a championship, but another failed season might lead Embiid out the door.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Evan Sidery
2 months agoThe Golden State Warriors have signed guard Jerome Robinson to a training camp deal. The 26-year-old is a former first-round pick of the Los Angeles Clippers from the 2018 NBA Draft. Robinson was with the Warriors in camp last year, but was cut before the season. He spent last season in the G-League, averaging 14.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists in 24 games. Robinson hasn't played in the NBA since the 2020-2021 season with the Washington Wizards. He'll get a chance to compete for a roster spot in camp, but is unlikely to have a significant role, assuming he makes the team.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Adrian Wojnarowski
2 months agoThe Utah Jazz have agreed to a two-year deal with free agent center Omer Yurtseven. The 25-year-old was most recently with the Miami Heat, but they decided not to give Yurtseven a qualifying offer. The big man will now join the Jazz on a guaranteed contract. The expectation is that Yurtseven will provide additional depth behind Walker Kessler at center. Through two seasons, Yurtseven is averaging 5.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 65 games. He only averaged 12.1 minutes during his time in Miami and it's uncertain if he'll play more in Utah. His departure should mean a bigger role for Orlando Robinson in Miami next season.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Bobby Marks
2 months agoFree-agent center Jahlil Okafor has decided to sign a one-year deal and head overseas to Spain. The Philadelphia 76ers selected Okafor with the third overall pick during the 2015 NBA Draft. He spent parts of three seasons with the Sixers before being traded to the Brooklyn Nets in 2017. Okafor lasted a season there before bouncing to both the New Orleans Pelicans and Detroit Pistons over the next few years. This past year, Okafor spent his time in the G-League where he averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 16 games. He'll get a chance to prove himself in Spain and then possibly return to the NBA at some point.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Sports Illustrated
