Dak Prescott Restructures Contract
3 weeks agoDallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has restructured his contract on Friday. Both Prescott and right guard Zack Martin have agreed to new deals. These restructures will save the organization nearly $30 million in cap space. This is certainly going to help, but won't solve all the Cowboys issues. They still need to figure out what to do with running back Ezekiel Elliott who is owed $16 million for the upcoming season. Elliott will need to take a pay cut or it could result in the organization releasing him in order to save money.Source: Field Yates
Salvon Ahmed To Remain With Dolphins
3 weeks agoMiami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed has agreed to a one-year deal to remain with the team. The deal is reportedly worth up to $1.8 million, but some of it will likely need to be earned through incentives. The 24-year-old only saw 12 carries for 64 yards and one touchdown in 12 games with the Dolphins last season. However, he did help out on special teams, so that could be part of the reason the Dolphins are bringing him back. It's unlikely that Ahmed carries much fantasy value heading into next season.Source: Jordan Schultz
James Robinson Will Become Free Agent
3 weeks agoNew York Jets running back James Robinson will not be tendered by the organization, which makes him a free agent. The 24-year-old was acquired by the team mid-season, but only ended up playing in four games with the team. He is more than a year removed from a torn Achilles that he suffered at the end of the 2021 season. Robinson has shown promise as he rushed for over 1,000 yards during his rookie season. There should be organizations willing to give him a chance to earn a role as a depth option. It's hard to predict his fantasy value without knowing where he's going. However, Robinson is unlikely to be a starter anywhere and would most likely be a change-of-pace back. It's safe to assume he probably won't have a lot of value heading into next season.Source: Jeremy Fowler
Brandon Graham Signs One-Year Deal
3 weeks agoThe Philadelphia Eagles have re-signed defensive end Brandon Graham to a one-year deal. This deal is worth up to $6 million for the upcoming 2023 campaign. The 13-year veteran has decided to stay with the Eagles rather than test free agency. The 34-year-old recorded a career-high 11 sacks last season, so he clearly still has something left in tank. Graham only needs to play in 11 more games to surpass kicker David Akers for the most regular season games played as an Eagle. This was a smart decision by the team to keep one of their fan-favorites around for at least one more season.Source: ESPN
Saints Offer Jameis Winston Restructured Deal
3 weeks agoNew Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston has been given an opportunity to remain with the organization. The team has reportedly offered Winston a restructured deal to stay with the team in 2023. Otherwise, the Saints are expected to cut Winston by next Wednesday. The former No. 1 pick has been limited to 14 games (10 starts) with the Saints since 2020. It's worth noting that Winston threw for 1,170 passing yards with 14 touchdowns and three interceptions before tearing his ACL in Week 8 of the 2021 campaign. The expectation is that Winston would likely have to compete for a starting job, assuming he leaves the Saints. The potential is there, but the injuries have left a big question mark for Winston.Source: Dianna Russini
Darius Slay To Seek A Trade
3 weeks agoPhiladelphia Eagles defensive back Darius Slay has been granted permission to seek a trade. The organization is still hopeful to get a deal done, but it seems likely that the two sides split this offseason. The release of Slay would with a dead cap hit of $21.265 million, but they could save $4 million with a pre-June 1st cut. The 32-year-old remains one of the better defensive backs in the league. He earned his second straight Pro Bowl selection this past season with a PFF pass coverage grade of 77.3. There should be plenty of trade partners for Slay if the Eagles do eventually move him.Source: Dianna Russini
Tyreek Hill Restructures Contract
3 weeks agoMiami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has agreed to restructure his contract on Friday. The organization is converting Hill's $10 million roster bonus and $16 million salary into a $24.835 million bonus and an $1.165 million salary. All of this is going to save the team $18 million for the upcoming 2023 season. They also restructured the contract of left tackle Terron Armstead which freed up $11.8 million of cap space. This is certainly going to give the Dolphins some money to work with in free agency.Source: Adam Schefter
Vikings Release Adam Thielen
3 weeks agoMinnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen has been released by the organization on Friday. This doesn't come as much of a shock considering Thielen was set to earn nearly $20 million next season. That is the highest cap hit for any non-quarterback on the Vikings roster. Now, the 33-year-old will get a chance to test the open market this summer. The veteran wideout is clearly on the decline, but that doesn't mean he can't contribute to an NFL roster. He has scored 30 total touchdowns over the last three seasons. The two-time Pro Bowl receiver can still be a threat, but isn't worth $20 million per season. His fantasy value is likely going to depend on where he lands. However, it's unlikely he has anything more than WR3 value on any roster.Source: Tom Pelissero
49ers Gain Three Third-Round Picks
3 weeks agoThe San Francisco 49ers gained three compensatory picks in the third round for April's draft. The picks added were No. 99, No. 101 and No. 102 overall in the third round. The Niners also gained compensatory picks in Rounds 5 and 6 and two picks in Round 7. All in all, they gained seven compensatory picks in the 2023 draft. Two of San Fran's third-round picks were gained when the Houston Texans hired former 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans as their new head coach and when the Tennessee Titans hired Ran Carthon as their new general manager.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Texans Lose Draft Pick For Salary Cap Violation
3 weeks agoThe NFL is taking a fifth-round pick in 2023 from the Houston Texans and is fining them $175,000 for what the league believes is a salary cap violation and what the Texans believe is an accounting error that dates back to quarterback Deshaun Watson's training during COVID in 2020, according to sources. The Texans later traded Watson to the Cleveland Browns last year. Houston will have the second and 12th overall picks in April's draft, one pick in the fifth round and 10 total picks after losing their fifth-rounder.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Eagles Release Brett Toth
3 weeks agoThe Philadelphia Eagles released offensive tackle/offensive guard Brett Toth (knee) on Thursday. Toth didn't play at all for the Eagles in 2022 and spent the whole year on the Physically Unable to Perform list due to a knee injury suffered late in the 2021 campaign. The 26-year-old played in 17 games in 2020 and 2021 with Philadelphia, but he played a total of 150 offensive snaps over those two seasons. Toth will now hope to get picked up by another NFL team on the open market and compete for a roster spot as offensive-line depth.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Texans Re-Sign M.J. Stewart On Thursday
3 weeks agoThe Houston Texans re-signed safety M.J. Stewart to a two-year deal on Thursday with a maximum value of $7.5 million, according to a source. He will receive $1.5 to sign and another $1.5 million guaranteed ($200,000 in per-game roster bonuses). Stewart will make $2.75 million in 2024 with $750,000 in incentives each year. A former second-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018, Stewart served as a backup safety and special teams contributor for Houston in 2022. He finished with 41 tackles (30 solo), a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in 17 games (zero starts). The 27-year-old has 141 solo tackles, seven tackles for loss, two interceptions, 13 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in his five NFL seasons.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Za'Darius Smith Wants To Be Released
3 weeks agoMinnesota Vikings Pro Bowl pass-rusher Za'Darius Smith has informed the team that he wants to be released, according to a source. However, the Vikings have no plans to do that and the situation remains unresolved. It's possible that the team will look to trade him this offseason. Smith will count $15.4 million against the 2023 salary cap if he sticks around, but the Vikings would save $12.1 million against the cap if they were to release him. The 30-year-old bounced back in a big way in 2022 in his first year in Minnesota after playing just one game in 2021 due to an injury. In 16 starts with the Vikes, he had 44 tackles (32 solo), 10 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, 24 QB hits, five passes defensed and a forced fumble.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Odell Beckham Jr. To Hold Workout On Friday
3 weeks agoFree-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) will hold a workout for NFL teams on Friday in Arizona, according to sources. Beckham is now more than 13 months removed from ACL reconstruction, is ready to play and is free to sign with a team at any time. The 30-year-old tore his left ACL in the Super Bowl in February of 2022 while playing for the Los Angeles Rams, and he didn't play for a team at all last season. If he looks healthy at his workout, it probably won't be too long before another team takes a chance on him. In 14 games with the Rams and Cleveland Browns in 2021, Beckham caught 44 passes for 537 yards and five touchdowns, but he looked even better in the postseason and in the Super Bowl before he got injured. OBJ could be fantasy relevant again in 2023 if he lands in the right spot.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
Saints, Michael Thomas Have Made Progress On Extension
3 weeks agoThere has been recent progress in talks between the New Orleans Saints and wide receiver Michael Thomas on a contract extension this offseason, according to sources. A deal isn't done yet, but talks have been productive. When Thomas restructured his contract in early January, the Saints added an almost $32 million roster bonus guaranteed on the third day of the new league year, which is coming next week. If the two sides cannot agree on a deal, the Saints will likely cut Thomas. The 30-year-old three-time Pro Bowler had an NFL-high 149 receptions for 1,725 yards and nine touchdowns in 2019 before being decimated by injuries the last three years. Thomas has played in just 10 games since 2020. Nobody's stock has fallen as much recently as Thomas'.Source: NewOrleans.Football - Nick Underhill
