Padres Could Keep Josh Naylor Over Manuel Margot
6 years agoThe San Diego Padres are considering keeping outfielder Josh Naylor on the big league roster over Manuel Margot once Franchy Cordero (elbow) returns from the injured list. Naylor is 5-for-15 during a five-game hitting streak in which he's homered twice and gone 2-for-2 as a pinch-hitter. The team's fourth-ranked position player was initially only going to be up for the Padres road trip to American League parks. Margot has options remaining and might benefit from regular playing time at Triple-A El Paso. His defense is valuable late in games, but he has started only seven times in the last 23 games and is hitting .230 with a .268 on-base percentage. Those that grabbed Naylor when he initially came up may be rewarded.
