Padres Acquire Jurickson Profar From A's
5 years agoThe San Diego Padres acquired infielder Jurickson Profar from the Oakland Athletics on Monday in exchange for catcher Austin Allen and a player to be named, according to sources. Profar was likely to be non-tendered on Monday, so this deal makes sense. He hit a weak .218 in his lone season with Oakland but had a career-high 20 home runs and drove in 67 runs. The 26-year-old former top prospect played well in his final season in Texas in 2018, but his streaky profile at the plate may not bode very well in fantasy in a pitcher-friendly atmosphere like Petco Park. He'll be the Friars starting second baseman in 2020. Allen hit .215 (14-for-65) with no homers and three RBI in his first taste of the majors this year. He'll be organizational catching depth in Oakland.
