Nick Vannett 2019 Player Outlook: A Deep Sleeper in Seattle
6 years ago2018 was a career year for Seattle Seahawks tight end Nick Vannett. He hauled in 29 receptions for 269 yards and three touchdowns, all career highs and numbers that led all Seahawks tight ends. However, much of that was due to injuries, as veteran Ed Dickson missed the first eight games with a back injury and rookie Will Dissly suffered a season-ending knee injury minutes into Seattle’s fourth game of the season. Dissly and Dickson are both healthy now, and Seattle also added Jacob Hollister into the mix - and that’s after using lineman George Fant as a tight end multiple times last season. It’s a crowded tight end picture in Seattle at the moment, and this is not a team that is known to utilize their tight ends exceptionally well, as many former Jimmy Graham owners can attest to. Dissly likely has the upper hand on the starting tight end role in Seattle, as long as he is healthy. Because of that, he is the late round flyer you want to target in Seattle - which means Vannett should remain on your waiver wire. Injuries are certainly a possibility to push him into a bigger role once again in 2019, but until that happens I wouldn’t use a roster spot on him.
