Giants Fire Defensive Coordinator Shane Bowen
The New York Giants have fired defensive coordinator Shane Bowen following Sunday's 34-27 loss to the Detroit Lions. The Giants (2-10) went into Detroit (7-4) and almost pulled off one of the largest upsets of the season on the back of Jameis Winston, but they allowed 17 points in the fourth quarter and overtime before eventually losing the game. From a holistic view, the Giants have ranked 24th in total defense, allowing an average of 346.8 yards per game, and 30th in opponents' points per game, allowing 24.4 points per game. It's been a tough season for Big Blue, and after ending things with Head Coach Brian Daboll on November 10, Bowen appears to have been the next in line. Bowen has been a defensive coordinator since 2021 and signed on as the Giants' defensive coordinator in 2024 after a three-year stint with the Tennessee Titans. No announcement has yet been made about who will serve as the interim in Bowen's absence.
