Nationals Are A Potential Suitor For J.T. Realmuto
4 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies would love to bring back catcher J.T. Realmuto, but they are "discouraged" about their chances of re-signing the All-Star backstop. The Washington Nationals are a potential suitor for Realmuto, as well as the division-rival Mets. When Realmuto was on the trade block two years ago, Washington was one of the clubs that engaged the Marlins in trade talks. Yan Gomes is under contract for $6 million next year, but he's 33 years old and is better suited as a backup. The Nats leaned heavily on Juan Soto and Trea Turner for offense in 2020, so they'd love to add another premier offensive piece to their organization. Realmuto should be the top fantasy catcher next season, regardless of where he lands in free agency.
