Nathan Eovaldi Throws Complete Game Saturday
3 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi was terrific on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles, throwing the first complete game of his career. Eovaldi allowed two earned runs, seven hits, and one walk while striking out six on 108 pitches. While the results were there, Eovaldi did allow 13 balls hit over 100 mph. Almost all of these were hit into the ground, with the righty piling up 14 ground balls outs. If Eovaldi can keep the ball on the ground, the results will be there. He comes out of this start with a 3.77 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 59 strikeouts over 57 ⅓ innings pitched. He should remain a decent option this season, although he is prone to blow-ups at times.
