Mitch Haniger Avoids Arbitration
4 years agoThe Seattle Mariners and outfielder Mitch Haniger avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, non-guaranteed $3.01 million deal on Saturday, according to sources. Haniger slashed just .220/.314/.463 in 63 games while adding 15 home runs and 32 RBI in 2019 and hasn't played since June of that same season. The 29-year-old had a breakout year in 2018 with 26 home runs, 90 runs scored, eight steals and a slash line of .285/.366/.493. Core muscle surgery and a back injury have kept Haniger out since June of 2019, though, making him a forgotten name in most fantasy leagues. The Mariners hung onto him for a reason, though, and he will be worth a late-round flier in deeper leagues if he can prove his health in spring training early next year.
