Mike Leake Struggling In July
6 years agoSeattle Mariners starter Mike Leake was lit up by the Angels for the second time in as many starts in the Mariners 9-3 loss Tuesday night. Leake lasted only four innings, getting battered around for 11 hits and five earned runs to raise his ERA to 4.36 on the season. After posting a 2.57 ERA in the month of June, Leake has been ambushed by the Angels in his past two starts. The veteran starter is now 1-3 this season against the Angels and has allowed 12 earned runs in only 19 1/3 innings pitched. Leake (8-6) has been a solid mid-rotation piece for the Mariners this season but is allowing a .276 batting average to opposing hitters and has struggled all season pitching with runners in scoring position. Leake currently is a matchup-based fantasy asset in most formats moving forward.
