Miguel Amaya Cleared to Begin Throwing Program
Miguel Amaya (oblique) was cleared to begin a throwing program Friday, MLB.com reports. Amaya appears to have started the process of ramping up again after a left oblique strain had kept him from throwing since May 24. The Cubs anticipate that Amaya will be able to return from the injured list before the All-Star break. However, an exact target date may not be finalized until the next steps in his recovery rehab process are identified. While Amaya has been out, Carson Kelly and Reese McGuire have been splitting time behind the plate for the Cubs. Before the injury, Amaya held a .280/.313/.505 slash line with four home runs, 14 runs scored, and 25 RBI. Amaya is not worth a stash in most redraft formats; fantasy managers in redraft leagues with only one catcher spot can drop him to the waiver wire.
