Mick Abel Extends Shutout Streak
4 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitching prospect Mick Abel continued his scoreless streak on Wednesday evening as he logged five clean frames. He served up just three hits across five frames while striking out seven. In his previous outing, he tossed six shutout innings while striking out eight and allowing three hits. This recent stretch has been a nice bounce back for the 22-year-old as he has had a rough time adjusting to Triple-A ball this summer. Before this hot streak, Abel carried a hefty 7.19 ERA and a 1.87 WHIP through June and July. Overall, through 88 innings at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, the number-six ranked prospect in Philly holds a 5.83 ERA and a 1.74 WHIP. If Abel can continue to turn the corner, he could get a brief look at the big leagues during the stretch run.
