Matthew Stafford Trade Talks Getting Heavy
4 years agoDetroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said that trade talks for quarterback Matthew Stafford have gotten "hot and heavy." With Detroit taking a long-term approach to their current rebuild, they decided after the season that they would be parting ways with Stafford. The 33-year-old veteran considers the Los Angeles Rams as a viable contender in his trade market, but it could be complicated considering current LA quarterback Jared Goff's contract. While the Lions will surely trade Stafford before he's due a $10 million roster bonus on March 21, a trade could happen before the Super Bowl. He threw for 4,084 yards, 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in what will be his last season in Detroit after 12 seasons. There's not much upside at this point in his career for fantasy purposes, but Stafford could be an attractive high-end QB2, depending on where he lands.
