San Diego Padres right-hander Luis Patino (elbow) is back throwing bullpen sessions at spring training this year after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right arm in late April of 2024. Patino made his major-league debut back in 2020 with the Padres and has spent time with the Tampa Bay Rays and Chicago White Sox since. He's appeared in 45 games (23 starts) in his four seasons in the big leagues and has registered a 5.02 ERA (5.30 FIP) and 1.49 WHIP with a 124:70 K:BB in 136 1/3 innings pitched. The 25-year-old Colombian hurler is making good progress from his Tommy John surgery, but the expectation is that he won't be ready to pitch in games until the second half of the season. Patino also won't be a lock to join the major-league roster later in the year when he's fully recovered.--Keith Hernandez
